The Lord Tiger Story

This recording studio and the music that comes out of it are the culminations of a 30-year dream.

Xavi (say HA-vee) Calvera came from Cuba in 1965 with a guitar in his hand and a song in his head. He's been writing music ever since.

He began recording on a Tascam 4-track cassette and graduated to a Roland VS-880 when the technology became available.

Now, he's using a Mac G-4 and Digital Performer software to create radio-ready music and professional-sounding CDs for musicians and vocalists on the Lord Tiger label.

The studio's first project was an album that should have been recorded in the 1970s. Xavi and harmonist Roy Tooth recreated some of the songs they had written and played in live bands in the Whittier and Fullerton areas.

The result is "For All Times," a collection of Beatles-inspired songs described on MP3.com as "hippie music."

Since "For All Times," Lord Tiger has produced eight full-length CDs, numerous 3-song demo CDs and become the inspiration for several new songs.
