Iroko is the Orisha spirit of a magical African Tree. In Cuba the Ceiba became Iroko as well. Many magical ceremonies are conducted under a Ceiba and to cut one down bodes ill for the perpetrator. Iroko is also consider the mediator between heaven and earth as her roots go deep into the earth and her branches reach high into the skies. People often ask favors of Iroko, specially being granted the birth of a child. But make sure you come back and sacrifice to Iroko when your favor is granted or she might just take your boon away.
